Defining the MVP scope and onboarding journey

Mosaic Journal

The Challenge

Mosaic Journal is a photo journalling and print subscription app - designed so that users can capture their lives with one printed photograph per day, rather than carefully curated social media posts. The client had many ideas about what could be in scope for the initial build, but had been unable to cut down on ideas.

The Process

Discovery - competitor research, stakeholder conversations, existing app analysis.

Define - userflow creation

Deliver - high fidelity UI designs produced

The Results

Mosaic Journal went live in 8 countries, achieved a 4.9 star rating in the App Store and 4.6 stars on Trustpilot.

"[They] worked with us to quickly establish a scope and the quality of [their] work was excellent. We received daily updates and [they were] receptive to all feedback and also contributed [their] own ideas in order for the UX/UI to be as clear and intuitive as it could be." - Murad Huseynov, CEO

The project in full

Understand Key Requirements

The client had some key requirements that we needed to consider

Free photos

The client wanted all users to get their first month's worth of photos for free.

Account creation

There had to be a secure way for the user to set up their account.

Pay for subscription

A checkout flow was critical so that users could pay for their subscription
Userflows

We created user flows to ensure that the key scenarios were covered

User flow
Sketching UI

We created a first draft visual language, which, working with the client, we refined further.

Initial mock ups
Final Direction

We achieved a final visual direction which covered all of the important scenarios and enabled an MVP build.
