Cobble is a content creation platform for educators, created by two Antler-backed founders. Their aim was to replace clunky old software with a new platform that made creating learning content very easy. However they required help to define exactly who their target audience should be, what the launch scope should look like and defining their visual identity.
Discovery - competitor research, stakeholder conversations, user interviews, existing product analysis.
Define - identifying target audience, defining launch scope.
Deliver - high fidelity UI designs produced
The Cobble founders were better able to articulate their target audience and the problem they were solving. They also had a clear launch scope as well as UI designs to implement.
"We had the pleasure of working with [them] for a few months while we were developing our MVP, and [their] ability to scope us down to the most important features to drive the largest customer value were critical. Additionally, [their] eye for UI and UX design helped us make significant improvements to the front end of our platform as well as website and pitch decks." - Edward Smith, CEO
From using tools like Genially and the Articulate 360 suite, Instructional Designers were accustomed to having many different types of learning interactive available at their fingertips. They were also concerned about switching platform and losing all of their previous work which would still be housed on the other software that they had been using.
For Cobble to reach parity with competitor products would have taken too long. However, with its focus on usability, Instructional Designers expressed a desire to use the platform as soon as it had more features available.
As a result, we proposed a solution whereby users could embed content from other platforms within Cobble. The aim was to allow users maximum flexibility to use their existing software (so no more worries about losing any existing work or not having enough interactives available on Cobble), but to use Cobble as the place to bring everything together. This gave users flexibility to get into the new platform ASAP and start creating content there, while allowing Cobble the opportunity to continue to work on their solution, to slowly replace incumbent platforms and to monitor the types of interactive that were most frequently embedded.
Simple, slick interface design where key CTAs were made clear.
Live preview, side by side in the editor, to show the user how the content they were creating would appear to their learner.
